LOVE GOD

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO LOVE GOD?

We LOVE GOD by becoming more like Jesus as we learn,

apply and grow in these disciplines of the faith.

V

BEING SAVED

To love God, you must believe that Jesus Christ is Lord, that He died on the cross for your sin and rose from the grave and is alive today. He took your place on the cross to reconcile you to God. You must turn (repent) from your sin and by faith ask Jesus to be your personal Lord and Savior. It is impossible to love God without being saved.

Acts 4:12

John 14:6

BAPTISM

A demonstration of your love for God is following Him in believer’s baptism, which is baptism after salvation and by immersion. As you publicly identify yourself as a follower of Jesus through salvation and then baptism, you are proclaiming God’s love for you and your love for God.

Acts 2:38

CORPORATE WORSHIP

You love God by worshiping Him with other believers each week in corporate worship. As we grow in love with God more each day, we have a need to express that love through worship gatherings. The more in love with Jesus you become, the more important corporate worship gatherings become in your life.

Hebrews 10:19-25

OBEDIENCE

One way you show your love to God is by obedience to His word and His Lordship in your life. You do not grieve the Spirit of God by disobeying the principles and precepts of His word. You love and honor God by obeying Him.

1 John 5:1-5

BIBLE INTAKE

To love God you must know God. The only way we can specifically know God is through His word, the bible. Daily Bible intake demonstrates our passion to hear God, follow God and love God. Time in God’s word not only demonstrates your love for God, but is one way God reminds you of His love for you!

2 Timothy 2:15

Psalm 119:105-112

PRAYER TIME

Another way you show God you love Him is by adoring Him, confessing your sin to Him, thanking Him and lifting others before Him in prayer. Prayer is communication with God. It is spending time with God. To love God you must communicate with Him on a daily basis. Prayer is where you say to the Lord; “I need you and am dependent upon you."

Matthew 6:5-13
