Joining Our Church Family
At Calvary Baptist Church, we believe that being part of a local church is an important step in a Christian's journey. Membership is more than just attending Sunday services—it's about becoming part of a community that supports each other in faith and life.
Why Become a Member?
Biblical Commitment: Church membership is strongly implied throughout the Bible. It allows believers in Jesus Christ to formally commit to a local community of like-minded followers of Jesus, as seen in Acts 2:41-47.
Spiritual Authority: Membership places you under the care and spiritual authority of pastors/elders, fulfilling biblical instructions (Hebrews 13:17).
Accountability: It provides a framework for spiritual growth, accountability—and church discipline when necessary (Matthew 18:15-20).
Shared Beliefs: Membership signifies agreement with what our church believes about God, the Bible, and how we live out our faith in Jesus.
Service and Talents: Membership allows you to fully participate in church life, using your unique abilities and skills to help others and contribute to our community (Romans 12:3-8).
Becoming a Member
REPENT & BELIEVE | Begin Your Journey with Jesus
- The first step is to trust in Jesus as your Savior (Romans 10:9-10).
- Once you’ve made this decision, we encourage you to be baptized as a believer, following the example in the Bible (Acts 2:38).
INTRO TO CALVARY | Get to Know Us
- Join us for a casual two-week gathering at our Senior Pastor’s home.
- Learn about our church, share your story, and ask any questions you have.
INTERVIEW | Let's Have a Friendly Chat
- One of the final steps is a membership interview with one of our leaders.
- During this conversation, you’ll have the chance to share your personal story of how you came to trust in Jesus as your Savior.
- You’ll also review and sign our membership covenant, which outlines what it means to be part of our church family.
ACTIVE MEMBER | Grow in Faith Together
- We will welcome you as a new member to our church community during the Sunday morning worship service, where you can stand and be recognized.
- As a new member, we encourage you to get connected with one of our life groups. This is a great way to build meaningful relationships, find encouragement, and grow deeper in your faith through studying God’s Word together.
- You’ll also have opportunities to discover and use your unique gifts to serve others, both within the church and in our community.
