Dear Calvary Family & Friends, 3/7/21
“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! 2 Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into His presence with singing! 3 Know that the Lord, He is God! It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. 4 Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise! Give thanks to Him; bless His name! 5 For the Lord is good; His steadfast love endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations.” (Psalm 100: 1-5)
Greetings to you precious people of God. You may have heard by now that on Sunday I announced my resignation as Lead Pastor of Calvary Baptist effective March 31st, 2021. The Lord has been so incredibly good to us over the past 17 years and 7 months. It has been the privilege and honor of my life and my families lives to serve Jesus alongside of you and your family!
My family and I have so much to be thankful for. Jesus has saved us from our sin and saved us unto Himself and along the way He has allowed us to walk much of our journey with you all. Together, we have laughed and cried, we have rejoiced and carried burdens, we have preached and prayed, we have served and been served. We rejoice in the faithfulness and grace of God that He has demonstrated through you Saints of God! I have had the blessing of sharing God’s Word at marriages, funerals, at births, baptisms, and through biblical counseling.
We give thanks to Jesus for giving us the time together to have studied books of the bible like Ezra, Philippians, 1st Timothy, 1 Peter, Genesis, Habakkuk, Revelation, Hebrews, Ephesians, Colossians and many more. It has been a joy to worship Jesus together with you brothers and sisters in song, fellowship, giving, prayer and service! You all are simply the best people of God that an “Elmer Fudd” pastor could ask for. We love you dearly. When our time here is over, we will miss you all immensely until God in His grace returns us to Glasgow, or better yet, gathers all of us together, before Him, in heaven!
These next four weeks will be a time of rejoicing and thanking Jesus for His faithfulness to our church family. On March 28th we will receive the Lord’s Supper together and Tracy, the boys and I would like very much for you to pray for us and send us out to our next assignment the Lord has for us to trust Him in. Easter is four weeks away! I want to encourage each of you to be inviting unchurched friends, family, neighbors and co-workers to join us in person at 9:45 or online if you are vulnerable to Covid, for a great morning of worship as God focuses our attention on “How Hope Is Alive”!
The next few months will be a time for many of you faithful men, women and students of integrity to rise up and serve the Lord through His church. God has established excellent leadership in our Church Council. Kevin Flynn, Ricky Martin, Todd Belcher, along with our staff Brian Pickerel, Justin Browning, Taylor Pike, our Deacon Chair Jeff Allen, as well as, all of our deacons are here to follow the Lord, model faithfulness in all areas of Christian practice and provide leadership to the family of God here at Calvary. The by-laws give clear direction for pastoral transition and later the calling of a senior pastor. Phase Two of the Master Plan is ready to proceed as the Lord gives you all direction and most importantly Jesus is ready to use you disciples to continue to Love God, Grow Together and Reach People for the glory, honor and blessing of our dear Lamb of God, JESUS!
While we will no longer be your pastor and family after March 31st we will always be brothers and sisters in Christ and friends with the most sacred, holy tie, that of grace through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. We love you Calvary family. Your best days are before you! “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning;
great is Your faithfulness.”
His, Therefore Yours,
